In today’s article I am going to tell you the benefits of baking soda, but before that let’s see what baking really is.
WHAT IS BAKING SODA?
Baking soda is a pure alkaline sodium bicarbonate compound which when combined with moisture and an acidic ingredient (e.g., yoghurt, chocolate, buttermilk, honey, lemon juice and vinegar) results in a chemical reaction which produces bubbles of carbon dioxide that expand under oven temperatures, causing baked goods to expand or rise. Baking soda will also produce gas upon decomposition caused by heat.
Having known this let’s see how important this alkaline compound is on the skin
Baking soda is often used as a home made cleaner, it is very effective against some bacteria such as E-coli and salmonella. Baking soda is useful for treating minor ailments like sunburn and insect bites, it works as a natural deodorant, toothpaste and feet scrub (for the feet scrub, put baking soda into water and scrub feet after work to remove germs and dust) and it can be used for cleaning virtually every room in your home.
Baking soda is also very important in killing fungi which between the toes and fingers. Applying a mixture of apple cider vinegar and baking soda or lemon and baking soda in between toes and fingers would kill these fungi. After application an ithchy peppery sensation would be felt but do not wash off until when dried up. Then apply olive or coconut oil after washing off.
On previous articles i talked about using baking soda as an inexpensive treatment for acne and pimples. A baking soda mask used to treat facial acne once a week can loosen tough skin around blackheads and soothe inflammation around pimples. Baking soda can stop the sting caused by alpha- or beta-hydroxy acid treatments for toning the skin, it also slowly erases acne scars and brown pigmentation left when acne heals. A simple treatment is the application of apple cider vinegar and baking soda on the acne spot, leave for 10 minutes then wash and rinse off.
Another tip for cleansing acne is getting the hands and fingers off your face, do not pick pimples, do not break them and do not form the habit of constantly touching the face.

Baking soda can be used with some water to remove the stains on the surface of the teeth. It can also be used with hydrogen peroxide to enhance its whitening effects. It is also used commercially in some teeth whitening products and toothpastes. One of the benefits of using baking soda is the fact that it can serve as a cheaper alternative to expensive whitening treatments and products. It can also neutralize and counteract bacterial acids in the mouth too. As a result of it abrasive and alkaline properties it also removes discoloration and plaque which can cause tooth decay and gum disease from the teeth.

It is easy and effective to just use baking soda for sunburn which has been widely used for a long time. Baking soda has its certain contents for which it is ideal for this problem. The alkaline property of baking soda is able to soothe the skin, relieve itching and inflammation.
